More Brushwork

29 Aug
more-brushwork

Wanted to play with the pen brush again. So here.

This was done when I was sick- about 2 days ago? In other news, I finished Starcraft 2 yesterday!

The girl ended up having longer legs than desired. I had fun working with the different tree patterns.

Second last page! I won’t be posting the absolute last page at all but you are free to see it in person if I have it on me.

Moleskine Dump

17 Aug

This page was done before I left for LA. Guy was kind of supposed to be on a horse but I thought it was too boring and he didn’t look particularly heroic in an old spice way. I wanted to also draw Nimue looking cold, then decided I haven’t drawn faeries for a bit, so here be faeries. I really love drawing pixies/faerie in a woodland/natural environment… maybe I should draw more of them again.

adventurerider, nimue, amusedfaerie, boastfulfaerie

I drew the 50s woman in LA and completed it on the plane home. I didn’t really get a chance to draw much in LA/SD. I was a little bored on the plane anyway. There was a family man next to me who started a conversation with me because his daughter drew too. I talked to her towards the end of the trip when he swapped seats with his daughter. :) I passed her a postcard to SMASH! (haha) but am not sure if she came, and if she did, whether she could have entered, because SMASH! was sold out of tickets at the door by noonish I think. Anyway, I really like the coiffed hairstyles from the 50s, though I was without reference, I tried to get it to look… right from memory. I got fed up halfway through and drew scifi guy or something. IDK. Oh yeah that palm tree there- was drawn from life when I was waiting for the bus at Burbank to Downtown LA. The SC2 insignias where drawn when I got back and had the artbook from the collector’s edition. Idk what to make of that random birdie thing. Eh. And then there’s a farmer-peasant girl?

NOW ON THE RIGHT. See I have this friend I met like 8 years ago and she draws awesome stuff but she kept erasing and redrawing and what I have left is that tiny head. Well considering I didn’t draw her anything… I’ll be back next year to get this completed, you hear me, Mina?

uninspired phase; starcraft 2 excitement; on the right we have Mina's unfinished entry

A few train sketches here. Not much to say really. I quite like Jim Raynor. That is all.

LEFT: non-referenced starcraft2 art, self-created zerg-inspired failcreatures; medic!, iguesshelooksindian then he picks up a phone? RIGHT: bjd prize designs, random horned dude, ilikethiskidontrain'sshair; squishedcateyedgirl, swimsuitmodel, mangaschoolgirl, malegotback, malepantsmodel

This is the second last page of my moleskine. I decided to do my characters/Chaos characters to celebrate the end of all thingsĀ this book. I envisioned War to take on a matured look. His hair may not be as excellent as Death’s but he presents himself in neat attire as well. Like Death he has seen a lot of things, so his eyes are pretty broody. He still has his scars of course.

Mayhem with pincers, angry!Mayhem, Death, modern-day War

And here ends my dump.

Plugs from SMASH! and San Diego Comic Con

16 Aug
plugs-from-smash-and-san-diego-comic-con

I was at San Diego Comic Con, then at SMASH! in the following week I returned. In both cons I had the opportunity to meet many wonderful artists, plus one who I’ve known for a long time and had a roof for me to sleep under while I was in LA. Well there’s one more but she didn’t complete a drawing and was with my other art so that will be coming up soon.

The pages are kind of jumpy and not in any chronological order because I had so little pages left the artists had to make do.

So first up, I was lucky to be able to make it to Tessa‘s signing session. Remember all that Hinabn fanart? Well this is pure art from the artist herself. :D Lamooont <3.

Then there’s Arthur because Grace can’t keep JGL off her mind. She did this in like an hour or less. Totally love this set of pagessss. <3 Thanks Grace!

And because I was hanging around the 4DE booth not knowing when Tessa would be there (Ihadnonettocheck), The Meek caught my eye so I purchased a volume of her comic and got her to draw in my moleskine too. <3

Last but not least is Shaun Healey and Stanley Lau. Shaun was awesome; he looked tired but was all SURE when I asked to take a photo (I wasn’t sure if he’d let me take a photo with him but :D ). He was at SMASH! where I was working kind of next to his booth- though he was hardly there because of the panels and all his fans. Until towards the end of the day. :D

Stanley, I met at SDCC. ’twas awesome. I’m not sure what he thought when I passed a SMASH! 2010 postcard to him there. XD Anyway he said he’d draw if I got something. I ended up picking a Pepper poster because I like his Pepper characterisations. :)
