For Science!

People who’ve known me for a while probably know that i’ve got a bit of a feminist streak. (For the record, i do not think either gender is superior; they’re different but equal, and deserve to be afforded equal respect. End of story.) Anyway, this is my small contribution to boobquake. A ridiculous statement deserves to be mocked by an equally ridiculous movement.

Done in SAI, with minor adjustments and text added in Photoshop. It’s styled after the vintage posters from the mid-20th Century.

Don’t mind me, I’m just passing through at the speed of light

Today (well, yesterday, but didn’t actually get to it since Sims 3 distracted me) i randomly had a mental image of a character in a certain pose, from an extreme angle, and wanted to see if i could pull it off.

i don’t particularly like drawing random characters, so decided to try drawing a modern-day version of Merc from the Chaos webcomic Mae and i plan to do eventually. Don’t think it really looks like him, though. If anything it ended up looking more like a young!Worth <<;; OTL.

i know it’s not very obvious from his outfit who he’s supposed to be, and it was deliberate since i thought shoes with wing designs or a cauduceus would be too anvilicious even for me. It’s only hinted at by the shopping bags at his feet, and the fact that he’s standing at crossroads (being that Mercury/Hermes is pretty much the god of transactions, boundaries and the patron of merchants, amongst other things).

 Drawn in SAI, post-processed in Photoshop.

Edit: i updated the pic earlier, but it’s still showing the old one for me >> Might be my cache. Anyway, was just to add blue to the lines of the vest and to the tie. Also, i made a quick wallpaper version for my work comp: here.

WIP: Minidragon

Thought that i’d be able to finish the commission by today before work, but apparently not D: Too busy working on the brochure for the upcoming SMU open house. Am about forty percent done with the digital inking so far; no preview though since i didn’t do one earlier, and am too tired to go hunt for my thumbdrive to take a preview pic now.

So instead, you can haz a roughly month-old WIP 8D It’s a collab piece between the astoundingly awesome Samee, and me. (The comma there was necessary so the descriptor is clearly grouped with the right person n__nb) Her lines and my colours, of a co-created character of ours. i really want to finish this one day.

i’d been using Photoshop to colour, but maybe i’ll try using SAI. Need to practise with that anyway.

i miss collabing with Samee ;__;

SAI luff

Downloaded the Paint Tool SAI trial on a whim a week or two back, and holy catfish, i think i found my favourite new programme to sketch in. o_o My tablet’s never felt so responsive before. i usually have to press harder than comes naturally while drawing both digitally and on paper (and yes, i have tried fiddling with my tablet settings ;) ) , but not with SAI, which makes sketching feel so much better. It also feels more precise somehow than OpenCanvas (at least the version i have). Also, having the image rotation and flipping options right on the top of the screen is full of win. SAI lacks all the fancy filters and most of the adjustment tools of Photoshop, but then again it’s not designed for image manipulation.

Anyway, this was the first thing i drew with SAI, to test out the tools. Still WIP, since i like it enough not to dump it. Probably. >>;
