Plugs from SMASH! and San Diego Comic Con

16 Aug
plugs-from-smash-and-san-diego-comic-con

I was at San Diego Comic Con, then at SMASH! in the following week I returned. In both cons I had the opportunity to meet many wonderful artists, plus one who I’ve known for a long time and had a roof for me to sleep under while I was in LA. Well there’s one more but she didn’t complete a drawing and was with my other art so that will be coming up soon.

The pages are kind of jumpy and not in any chronological order because I had so little pages left the artists had to make do.

So first up, I was lucky to be able to make it to Tessa‘s signing session. Remember all that Hinabn fanart? Well this is pure art from the artist herself. :D Lamooont <3.

Then there’s Arthur because Grace can’t keep JGL off her mind. She did this in like an hour or less. Totally love this set of pagessss. <3 Thanks Grace!

And because I was hanging around the 4DE booth not knowing when Tessa would be there (Ihadnonettocheck), The Meek caught my eye so I purchased a volume of her comic and got her to draw in my moleskine too. <3

Last but not least is Shaun Healey and Stanley Lau. Shaun was awesome; he looked tired but was all SURE when I asked to take a photo (I wasn’t sure if he’d let me take a photo with him but :D ). He was at SMASH! where I was working kind of next to his booth- though he was hardly there because of the panels and all his fans. Until towards the end of the day. :D

Stanley, I met at SDCC. ’twas awesome. I’m not sure what he thought when I passed a SMASH! 2010 postcard to him there. XD Anyway he said he’d draw if I got something. I ended up picking a Pepper poster because I like his Pepper characterisations. :)

“Ooh Signore Ezio”

In the essence of Kate Beaton’s Ooh Mister Darcy… here’s one for Assassin’s Creed 2.

It didn’t seem as funny if I used Rosa.

Train Sketches

16 Jul

Since my last train sketch was mostly male, I thought I’d fill the opposite page with females. Meet waiting!girl, punkrock!girl, girl silhouettes, imagined self-portrait that made me miss my train stop, and Nimue. No refs. I’m not happy with this Nimue though (I drew this before that last speedpaint).

girl power

I’m not happy with this page at all. I wanted to draw swirly monsters but it’s going to take more practice. The botanical sketches were ref’d out of the window- committed a tree to memory and tried redrawing it. Then there’s turban man (no refs). I think I like him- his facial features look ethnically different to all the white guys I’ve been drawing.

Nimue Speedpaint

14 Jul

I wanted to draw someone and Ann suggested Nimue.

I’ve had a few sketches of her from my train sketches but not scanned as of yet.

No references were used in the making of this artwork. D: Had to remember her outfit from memory! I think I got some parts wrong.
