Space Kitties

Haven’t been posting recently since i’d been busy at work for the past couple of weeks. Did manage to get some small bits and bobs done though, so dumping them here before it slips through my mental colander again. Shall try to catch up on long overdue commenting tonight! ><

Incomplete attempt at toning the last Sarrosketch. i need to work on rendering values better, so thought of trying to shade her in monotone instead of colouring her my usual way, to avoid getting distracted by hues. Haven’t used any references yet but i really should >>;

Zomg, a background. i know, right? It may be just a messy sketch, but still! Is a landmark for me, considering most of my doodles are just floating heads or busts—partially because of laziness i enjoy drawing faces the most, but primarily because i have this thing where i absolutely loathe doing something if i know it won’t be good. That’s one of my defining traits, really. <<; And i knew that with my current skills there was no way to bring to life the pictures in my head; so i simply avoided even trying. But that’s not going to help me improve. What i hope is going to help is forcing myself to ignore quality for now and focusing instead on merely getting the concepts themselves out. They might suck, but at least they’re there. Then once i’m used to drawing scenes, i’ll work on the actual construction more. It’d be best to get the foundations right first, but one thing at a time >>;

Tl;dr: Expect more messy, badly drawn scenes. 8D

And about the picture itself, it’s a sketch of another of Samee’s characters. They’re like a whole neighbourhood of muses for me. <3

My first Haize/Cae fanart! Although the Cae here is a female version rather than the original, male one, and Haize technically isn’t even in the pic : D;; i love them anyway though, in pretty much any incarnation. i’ve been wanting to draw this scene for something like a year or two. It’s not quite how I want it, but I’m glad I tried it. : ) Might try redoing this, or trying out how it would look from a different angle.

And this is an art blog, but shall spam a short poem thing that really randomly popped into my head on Sunday, anyway. It was one of those weird things where it just started going and was done in like five minutes. O.o

Mutter, stutter, grimace, grin
The words won’t get out
But they won’t stay in
There’s always too much want
But never enough do
With this head full of nothing
And this heart full of you

Waiting for the lights to change,
Watching you speed past
Through the slow sand shower
Of the world-sized hourglass
Who knows when the last will fall?
Could even be today
